Georgia Governor Joseph M. Brown loses renomination bid in a heated party primary. Brown, long an influential figure, faces strong opposition within the state Republican party as supporters rally behind a new gubernatorial challenger.
Dr Max Baff of Clark University calls the woman suffrage movement an outbreak of emotional insanity. He says women should do men’s work such as digging tunnels running streetcars and hammering nails. He attributes women’s voting to hysteria and crowd influence.
P. M. Speer of Oil City won the Republican nomination for Congress in the 28th district on the first ballot at a Park Hotel meeting in Franklin. The vote 6 to 3 largely reflected cross-county support, with Elks, Forest, Mercer, Warren, and Venango delegates present. Speer was praised by Col. George C. Richards and others for his experience and firm GOP principles while Ex-Judge Miller received Mercer county backing.

Lynn Hodges of Youngsville died in the penitentiary after a prior brutal assault on his wife and a failed murder of his father in law A P Anderson. In Vienna on September 15 a lawsuit was filed after a midair collision over Weiner Neustadt involving Archduke Leopold Salvator aboard a plane piloted by August Warchalousky. Carl Warchalousky, piloting the other craft, suffered injuries. Neither pilot admitted fault and the case was adjourned as prosecutors call for aviation rules reform.
Maine voters delivered a landslide for Frederick W. Plaisted, Democrat, who defeated Bert Fernald, Republican, by about 9,000 votes. Ten men died and as many were injured when a section of an old tunnel adjoining the New York Lake Erie Western railroad open cut at Bergen hill collapsed Sunday at the western entrance. Doctors fear some may not recover.
Lydia Malin and Elizabeth Patchell of Middletown township report daytime assault on Red Bridge by two inmates of the Pennsylvania Training School for Feeble-minded Children at Elwyn. One youth lifted Patchell and dropped her 10 feet to ground. another chased Malin. Patchell's father complained to the school superintendent.
