He confessed to forty two wives worldwide including four in Chicago and many aliases such as Charles Bereneford A J Hitting A L Kiefer and A L Bradshaw. He said he cannot name all his spouses but listed regions from Europe and China to Peru and England. He claimed he married for different reasons and that they would say he was kind to them.
