Clair Mix of Lander was injured while trimming tree limbs near the farmers line south of Lander. A limb gave way causing a fall, resulting in a spine fracture and paralysis from the waist down. He was treated by doctors in Lander and Chandlers Valley and is believed to have other internal injuries.

Benjamin J. Cardwell, trustee of Upland lodge Knights of Pythias in Chester, was held under $600 for a further hearing Friday night on misappropriation charges. Prosecutors say he drew lodge checks, cashed them, and kept the funds, and that he failed to turn over building association money. More than 200 lodge members attended at the borough hall.
Judge Shay ordered a Pottsville city charter election for November 8 to decide if the town becomes a city. The charter ballot will be attached to the regular ballot for state and county officers.
