Dayton Fire Threatens Flood City After Overnight Blaze

Fire rekindled in Dayton flooded district engulfing blocks near Second to St Clair streets. Rescue crews housed about 3,000 refugees last night while 65,000 are cited as marooned in homes and businesses as flames endanger the National Cash Register area.

Traction line suspended after track washout floods region

Large stretches of the Warren Jamestown traction line are washed out as many viaducts floodd and water covers the roadbed. Relief trains rush toward Dayton as official tallies place deaths at 800 and property damage around 100 million dollars amid destructive flooding.

Renting Boats as Residents Flee Flood Zones

Strenuous efforts are under way to move residents from danger zones and salvage belongings. Boats from North Warren were moved to the West End to shuttle people and supplies through flooded areas. If the river rises further, the electric plant may be forced to shut down, leaving the city in darkness. Police Chief Berdine says officers will augment efforts as needed.
