New York leads with 70 000 grange members and added over 6 000 members in 1902. Two counties gained granges and forty new units formed as interest spreads statewide. Michigan reports progress with 101 subordinate and six pomona granges organized since last national meeting in Lansing. The piece stresses recruiting strong local leadership and the grange as vital social educational and business center in rural life.
Final excursions for the Buffalo and Allegheny Valley Division and the Philadelphia and Erie Railroad run April 3. Warren mourns Captain Lewis M. Clark age 36 born Cincinnati killed March 23 while pursuing escaped prisoners on Mindanao Island. A veteran of the 16th and 28th regiments, he served as inspector of the Constabulary with rank of captain. Survived by his mother, wife, and two children Lewis and Mabel. Remains expected home for burial this summer.
