Reading factions quarrel over Democratic platform and tariff stance

The Reading Democratic factions fight over a platform seen as incoherent and self contradictory. They debate protectionist aims for Pennsylvania iron coal and wood while Cincinnati Platform hints at free trade. The piece notes cheating allegations and calls the platform a rickety record and a stock oil ploy. It also mentions an Island Joint Stock Oil company meeting in Warren with officers and a lease negotiation, and a local note about Parker, Jamestown Democrat, joining a Congressional committee, plus a Jamestown Democrat item on David G Curtis.
