Panther Track Leads Hunters to False Trail

In Lottsville on March 10 1885 four Nimrods pursued a panther after hearing its call. The party split with Smith and Creed cutting bolts leaving Pelton and Willet to follow a scent that proved to be a log. The dawn chase ended in misdirection as the hunters realized the trail was false.
