In 1825 the brig Henry Martin sails from New Orleans to Havana amid pirate threats. A midshipman aboard uncovers a plot by nine Spaniards and a Spanish maiden to seize the ship. A night attack follows with pistol and sword duels. the pirates are defeated, the captain wounded but survives, and the ship reaches New Orleans safely. The ring from the woman’s finger is kept for evidence, and the uncle’s fate remains unknown.
