Widow poisons children then sets bed on fire
In Galesburg Illinois a young widow, Mrs W L Magee, poisoned her two small children yesterday but gave an emetic and saved them. Early this morning she gave another dose and set fire to the bed. Neighbors rescued all. She confessed, doctors later deemed her insane, and she will be taken to Watertown.

Pinkerton man Thaddeus York captured in Seattle forgery case
Seattle detectives traced Thaddeus York to the city after identifying a nickle plated wrench left in his hotel room. York, linked to aliases, is charged with forgery and swindling the Northern Express by stealing 57 money orders cashed in multiple cities. He is accused of netting 1239 from American Savings Bank in 1909 and defrauding American Bank and Trust in Klamath Falls of 7000. He was reportedly involved in hotel building and ran a Washington ranch 150 miles from rail.
