Americans Fete at London Legation Reception
In London on July 4 the American legation hosted a high order social event from 4 to 7 pm attended by over 1000 Americans. A silk American flag hung at the entrance and the hall brimmed with flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Pierrepont and Gen and Mrs Grant greeted guests. The event closed with Miss Abel singing the Star Spangled Banner.
