A long June drizzle and unsettled forecast for July ripple through Warren and surrounding towns. Local notes report casual updates on weather, a new office opening, civic events, and social visits as residents await clearer skies and summer plans.
The Warren area marks a bright Fourth with a Warren versus Cleveland baseball game at 10:30 a.m. Irvine dale Park hosts an Outing Club picnic and evening dancing. Many residents plan trips to Jamestown and nearby towns to celebrate. Weather is a variable but unlikely to stop activities.
On July 2 Roy Grant age 11 of Ackley was accidentally shot in the bowels by a revolver in the hands of Robert Ward. Dr Frantz summoned he was taken to the Hospital and placed in critical condition.
At a recent Board of Institute Managers meeting it was decided institutes will be held next winter in Warren county at Ackley and Grand Valley. The Farmers' and Breeders' Association will hold an institute this fall at Chandler's Valley.
Ashtabula ball team lost 5 to 1 in a game last Tuesday. Sharon club fell 8 to 6 in Warren last Friday and again 9 to 6 on Saturday, with War ren's Will Hassett noted as a top performer. Dr Frantz reports Aaron Kerr of Sharon recovering from a head injury after a midweek hit, with a home return to New Castle planned. The N G P camp at Gettysburg opens July 12 under the name Camp George G Mead. An Oil City Titusville excursion with thirteen rail cars faced a landslide near Oil City. Col Hulings appoints J W Campbell of Corry as chaplain for the 16th regiment N G P. June remains unusually cold. Piesey City D V & P R BR excursion set for July 17 with low rates and twelve day tickets available through agents at Allen fits feet 221 Liberty Street.
Under new law the Chautauqua Assembly becomes Chautauqua Institution with authority for education and social improvement. The self perpetuating board aids endowment. The season opens with topics on Social Settlement Arts and Crafts Young People Municipal Progress Labor Movements Modern Industrial Problems and Public Beauty.
Delegates from Elk Forest Mercer Venango Warren gathered at Carver House for the Republican 28th district convention with J C Sibley named as the unanimous nominee after roll call. Resolutions praise Joseph C Sibley, endorse the Harrisburg ticket, and commend Senators Jung and Penrose alongside President Roosevelt’s policies.
Prospects rise for removing old fireproof buildings on Water street and building brick store structures with offices and living rooms. Water street will narrow to gain land and boost town, as Park sells wagon shop after 55 years to A Hertzel. blacksmith lots go to Keller, McLaren, Fox and partners for a brick block extending into the mill pond.
A low rate trip to the seashore at Atlantic City offered via D A V and P R R. The notice advises inquiries to railroad agents for details and bookings.

A series of 1902 marriage notices from Warren and surrounding towns records multiple nuptials. Dr Charles William Schmehl weds Janet Anna Bell in Warren. Will G Gibson and Pearl J Unganst marry in Jamestown. William Parker and Cora Putnam wed in Columbus. Benj F Tate and Alice Stephenson unite in Wehrum Indiana County.
Obituaries from Warren and surrounding townships note the death of Mr Wm H Copeland after a long illness. Rev George Darling aged about 79 dies in Warren after a long ministry, burial in Milford NH with services conducted by Rev J W Smith. Other notices include Meehan Palm er Anderson Shutt death notices with ages. births and marriages mentioned as free notices with publishing policy and pricing for notices and cards.

The June field operations report notes a preliminary gain in wells completed and new production for the region but the rise is not enough to noticeably boost total output in Pennsylvania. More clusters appear, and prospects for large changes are not encouraging. Some southwest areas show promising pools, yet overall activity slips slightly with no producer curtailment observed.
Seneca B. Burr, a respected P. and E. Ry. passenger conductor, died suddenly in Erie on Wednesday afternoon June 25. He was found unconscious on the station floor after delivering his train to Warren at 7 41 P M, passing away moments later. His son Henry was a fireman on the same train. J C Magee, formerly of Warren, now runs Erie to Renovo, and Mr Griffin takes Magee's run.
