The Dove of the Storm in the Green Mountains

Old Times remembered cider bees and steuben tales from past days

The Albany State Register reflects on rural pastimes with memories of apple cider pressing and cider drinking around a cherry table in old Steuben. It recalls apple parings known as bees with young folk, pumpkin pies, and primitive country fashions as city folk scoffed at apple bees. A note from Province town reports a wild horse from Sable Island evading capture on Cape Cod beaches, described as looking well by the Barnstable Patriot.
