Adelaide M. Branch escapes Monticello jail with Sheriff Kinney by night, travels to Fallsburgh and then west after mortgages fail to sell. She rejects Hammerstein offer of 500 dollars weekly, says she cannot face public scrutiny over her late lover.
The Bourne mills at Fall River Massachusetts paid a semi annual profit sharing dividend of 3 percent to the employes. About 85 per cent of the 800 operatives will be benefited. The total amount paid out equals 4000 dollars. An operative must have worked at least six months before a declaration of the dividend. The idea originated with George A. Chace in 1889. The corporation has only failed to pay once during the 1904 strike. This dividend equals an extra weeks pay and is based on wages from June 2 to Nov 29 1913. The directors voted to continue the dividend for another six months. More operatives benefited than ever before.
Citizens of the Junior Republic at Freeville New York and Ithaca Junior Municipality sign memorials for Willian R George. They forward them to the founder to defend his character against state board of charities charges. The board recommends his elimination from all connection with the republic and radical changes, which the trustees will not obey.

Emily Titcomb the so called woman of fits a daylight burglar known to police nationwide died in Windsor after release from a Detroit house of correction where she served 90 days for robbing an apartment. She had sought her 19 year old vaudeville dancer daughter Marie who she denounced in court and urged police and court to punish. Titcomb had been arrested in many cities, often escaping by feigning fits.
In Zanesville Ohio Mrs Clarence Fears confessed she phoned in a false item claiming she and husband were parents of triplets born Christmas. The joke earned them $3 and a baby carriage but the case was dropped after referral to the prosecutor for grand jury review.
Mrs W A Pennebaker of Hast Waterford announces the secret wedding of her daughter Lillian to Lieutenant Chapman Grant stationed at Fort Clark Texas near the Mexican border. Grant son of J Root Grant and grandson of General U S Grant. The wedding occurred July 22 in New Jersey.
Ten sailors drowned when two barges founders in a Barnegat sea disaster last week. Storm damage along the New Jersey coast from Sandy Hook to Atlantic City is estimated at 500000 to 750000 dollars. In the same gale a hast river skiff with two men capsized. one man perished.
