A dreamlike scene shows a grand library with gold clasped volumes and vaulted alcoves. An angel in a golden chair writes in bright margins, numbered eighty-two to eighty-four, then vanishes as a foreman calls the boy home. The scene returns to the editor gray in his arm chair, as a New Year cheer fills the room.

A old fashioned patent medicine claim promises a magic cure for pimples black heads and eruptions on the face with supposedly clear healthy skin. It lists cures for itch salt rheum sore nipples lips and ulcers and sores. Sold by druggists and mailed for 50 cents. L G Noyes of Warren PA is named as a seller.
An advertisement claims Acker's Blood Elixir cures inherited or contracted blood poisoning. Sold by John son and Siegfried.
A notice touts Dr William s Indian Ointment as a cure for blind, bleeding and itching piles. It claims a box cures twenty five years of chronic cases, relieves itching at night, and absorbs tumors. Sold by druggists or by mail for 1 with L G Noyes Warren Pa advertiser.
