Washington Feb 6 Colonel James A Sexton commander in chief of the Grand Army of the Republic is dead. Born Chicago Jan 5 1844 he enlisted in 1861 served in Illinois regiments rising to captain and later served in major Civil War campaigns. He later became postmaster of Chicago appointed by Harrison and served until 1895.
