A Philadelphia dispatch reports the Pennsylvania Railroad directors approved a plan to take over the Philadelphia & Erie railroad by stock exchange on a share for share basis and submit it to stockholders for final approval in March. The Pennsylvania holds about 81 percent of Philadelphia & Erie stock and expects the remaining shares to be deposited by January 31. The exchange will merge Philadelphia & Erie into the Pennsylvania Railroad Company and dissolve the P E as a standalone corporation.
