Albert Hope, actor and poet, convicted in Memphis of forging a draft on the National Broadway bank and sentenced to four years in the penitentiary. He inherited $50,000 from his father six years earlier and moved to New York where he lived lavishly with Mrs. Frank Leslie as patron. Hope faces Arkansas charges for a $1,000 fictitious draft. previously arrested in Philadelphia for forgery and brought to Memphis on requisition. He was a frequent contributor to the Century.
