Recollection of Warren County first Court 1819 by Judge Hazeltine
Letter from Judge Hazeltine of Jamestown dated December 1 1877 recounts the first Warren County Court held December 1819. He recalls the setup at an unfinished building, the court officers, oaths to the bar, a notable early trial between Col Marlin and grand juror Dickson, and contrasts between old and new facilities. He notes the county's small population and lumber economy, and closes with reflections on local hospitality and pride in the new temple of justice. A reception followed with bright lighting and well-heated, acoustically excellent halls.
