A lighthearted hometown note shows a candidate mingling with families in June, praising women and cake makers, kissing babies, and shaking hands with seniors to endear himself to the community. Also mentions oil prices, crops, and local events in Warren area.
The body was recovered last Friday morning after days of searching by a party on Chautauqua Lake. Funeral services were held Saturday at Richland’s home of Mr and Mrs N Greenland with Rev Delaplaine officiating. Bearers included W C Watson G H Jackson Dr O S Brown F A Steber C W Ahdey and Dr R B Stewart. Remains laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery.
Warren firemen concluded their St Marys blow-out with satisfaction over the results. DuBois will host the convention next year with F W McFarlin of Ridgway as president and T J Kingsley of Renovo as first vice president. G W Bauer of Warren is second vice president, Thos A Steele of Kane secretary, and Moses Cohn of Bradford treasurer. The Hunters of Union City led hose and hub races. the Emeralds of Ridgway finished second. Ridgway won hook and ladder. Union City second. West Branch Hose Co of Renovo captured the prize drill.
The Northwestern Luther League Association met in Warren on August 18 in annual convention at the First Lutheran church. About fifty delegates from nearby counties attended and were entertained by Warren members. Business sessions were held Tuesday and Wednesday with a trolley ride and a tour of Warren factories as closing events.
With the courthouse still incomplete, no jury court will be held next month. Jurors drawn are told to stay home. Judge Lindsey will handle necessary business at his office. Some prisoners face a long wait until December court, but remain pleased with Sheriff Brann's fate rather than forced labor.

Warren Pa August 6 1902 James O Parmlee writes to correct errors about Henry R Rouse’s 1861 will after a fatal oil fire at Enterprise Warren County He confirms the will was signed and probated with a $1000 bequest to rescuers plus annual income to his father and the residue to Warren County for roads and poor funds The Rouse Hospital and a model courthouse funded by the residuary estate illustrate the lasting impact of his charitable plan supported by county authorities and a 6 percent return on investment.
The Struthers Hotel Barn is now in charge of John Stinger who will give special attention to the horses of farmers and others. The transient trade will be accommodated as there is no livery in connection.
Ovens Buffalo Bread arrives daily from vendor Koot and Henry. Five varieties offered, described as fresh and good.
A series of marriage notices from August 1902 lists Lewis Clark and Mary Winbland wed in Irvinedale Park with a crowd of over 2,000, described as burlesque. Also recorded are Hyder-Hidinger in Warren, Berry-Crosby in Weldbank, Clark-Phillips in Meadville, Whitney-Boughton in Jamestown, Anderson-Rossey in Jamestown, with grooms and brides from Warren and nearby towns.
Obituaries dated August 1902 list deaths of Lawrence Lynch in Warren aged 65, Mrs G Fred Bell in Olean aged 30, Rev Carl D Lundquist in Busti, Justice M T Dibble in Enterprise aged 59, William Garber in Limestone Township aged 82, Nannie Taylor in Barnes aged 39, and Clarissa Catlin in Sugar Grove after a short illness. Burial dates follow in East Hickory and nearby locales.
In Warren on August 15 1902 Mr and Mrs C N Sprague are pleased to announce the birth of a son.
The Pennsylvania Railroad offers a low rate excursion to Niagara Falls and Toronto on Tuesday August 26. Tickets are $2 to Niagara Falls and $3 to Toronto with half rate for children 5 to 12. Train from Warren departs at 7 57 AM. Niagra Falls tickets valid on regular trains through August 27. Toronto return via regular steamers and trains by August 30. Five daily steamers from Toronto via the Niagara River Line connect to N Y C and H R R trains to Niagara Falls and Buffalo. Parlor and sleeping cars not included.
The King family held its second annual reunion at S. L. King's Putnamville home on August 14 with about 40 attendees. Dinner was served outdoors and ice cream came from I. X. L. Co. of Warren. Officers elected: President Daniel Jennings Secretary Carl W. King Treasurer Dennis King. Next reunion set for August 27, 1903, at Daniel Jennings's Frewsburg, New York home.
