Since then a second bank a fifty room hotel a hardware store a 30 by 80 dry goods house and a Presbyterian church have begun.

The Cincinnati Times-Star proclaims a remarkable age of invention in the last fifty years. It credits progress from the locomotive and telegraph to the telephone the phonograph and machinery advances like improved steel processes and printing presses. It foresees further shifts including coal gas heating air navigation and electric propulsion, noting uncanny leaps in surgery photography and mass printing.
Officials remind residents of the 1881 act prohibiting painting or posting advertisements on walls fences trees or property without owner consent. Violators face a misdemeanor charge with fines up to 25 dollars and up to thirty days imprisonment.
