Elliott W. Horton, longtime editor and manager of the Geneseo Republican, died by self inflicted gunshot after years of ill health. Born in Batavia, he worked in printing before moving to Geneseo in 1885 and leading the Livingston Democrat. He was married to Emma Argue and survived by a son and daughter.
