Warren Council backs railroad along main street sparks protest
The Warren Borough Council approved a proposal to grant right of way for the Conewango Valley Railroad to lay tracks along the town fronting the Allegheny River near Hickory and Water streets. Citizens object, arguing the plan would ruin the town’s riverbank business area and damage river access. Proposals alternate routes to avoid the main street, while critics urge preservation of the river eddy and commercial life. Easter and Lent notes are also included.
