Old Bell of Ellicottville Linked to Moscow 1708 Cast

The Clean Times learns from Rev. Benton that Ellicottville’s Episcopal Church houses an old bell cast in Moscow in 1708. It was part of a Moscow cathedral chime, survived Napoleon’s 1811 burning, traveled to New York as ballast, then passed through Troy to Andrew Meneely before reaching Ellicottville. Now restored, it readiness to ring at the Centennial Fourth and possibly Philadelphia celebrations.
