Augustus Merrill Dies by Own Action in Warren Inquest

Public installation of officers impresses packed Library Hall
Attendance filled Library Hall at 8:30 for a grand installation with Sir Rev. W. H. Platt as presiding prelate. Eminent Sir Caleb C Thompson and others were installed as Commander and officers. Erie Sept. 18 Judge Galbraith sentenced ex-bank president Brabender to two years at hard labor in the penitentiary for a monstrous crime that ruined depositors and drove some to self-destruction and the lunatic asylum. Brabender pleaded he was a victim of his cashier.
