Seventh Annual State Convention of the Maccabees Opens in City
The seventh annual convention of the Knights of the Maccabees convened at Library Hall with Supreme Record Keeper N. S. Boynton presiding. Officers from Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania attended as credentials and minutes were organized. The afternoon debated a great camp project, while the evening featured welcomes, musical numbers, and speeches. Wednesday elected officers for the Pennsylvania Great Camp and adopted resolutions praising Allegheny Tent No. 3 and Warren, with thanks to key officers.

Braddock Selected for Next Great Camp Convention
Ohio visitors provided gratification and counsel at Braddock where the next camp convention was chosen to be held in February 1997. Allegheny Tent No 3 KO T AL hosted a successful ball at the armory hall on Wednesday night in honor of the visiting Sir Knight. Refreshments were served from 11 to 1. the Knights of the Macabees performed admirably.

Death of Clarence Lacy in Glade
Clarence W. Lacy died at his mother's home in Glade after a long illness aged 86. He was born in Sheffield Warren county and lived in Warren and Glade most of his life. An oil inspector at Warren for years, he leaves a wife, his mother Mrs Malvina Lacy, a brother Emmett and a sister Gertrude. Funeral services were held at his mother's home and burial followed at Oakland.

Four Horses Cremated at Grand Valley Fire
A Saturday morning fire destroyed L UH Church’s Grand Valley livery barn killing four of eight horses. The blaze also consumed wagons sleighs harness and other gear. Four horses were saved. the origin of the fire is unknown. Estimated loss about 2590 with partial insurance.

Owens Nomination Conceded in Leaiseton Ky
In Leaiseton Kentucky on September 11 the Owens nomination was conceded after a day of agitation. Breckinridge supporters, led by B. J. Welsh, refused to back a challenge to returns, leaving a potential 5 to 5 tie on the district committee. Despite claims of a 626 plurality, they paused to avoid discarding Owens precincts at Frankfort next Sunday. Colonel Breckinridge will serve until next March.

Amusement Program Highlights From Allegheny Tent Event
The Sir Knights of Allegheny Tent staged an amusement program for visitors. Events included a greased pig capture won by Harvey Lrasington after ten minutes, a tule race won by Achie Shute, and a sack race won by Joe Hutter. The greased pole climb lacked a winner, and a ten mile bicycle race saw 19 entries with O. A. Olson of North Warren taking first after a three minute head start. weather caused postponements and eventual abandonment of the illuminated parade and bicycle pageant.
