Poisoned Delegates at W C T U State Convention in Bradford
At the Bradford state convention of the W C T U last Friday and Saturday, about 50 delegates fell ill after luncheon at Armory Hall. Doctors treated many with antidotes, with some in critical condition but later recovering. The illness was blamed on spoiled meat or decomposed chickens cooked in an old copper boiler, with copper possibly contributing to the sickness.

In the 1870s near Oil City an engineer on the Oil Creek railroad witnessed a spectral figure rise from the track and wave warnings as a train neared. Driftwood Tragedy: Laborer Run Over Near Sinnemahoning
Thomas Coffrey, 26, a Sinnemahoning laborer, was killed near Driftwood when a west bound freight struck him as he sat on the tracks. He and his intoxicated brother had been in Driftwood.
