Death on the Rail Kills P&LE Employee
William W Spaulding, a tagman and switchtender for the Philadelphia and Erie now Brig railroad, was killed instantly Monday at noon when a locomotive ran over him in the P and E yards. Spaulding, about 31, died as the engine backed to the round house to switch for a local train. An inquest returned a verdict of accidental death.
