Luminous photographs and new light based discoveries
A novelty piece outlines luminous photography using Balmain paint and translucent positives, notes on electric light improving air quality and color distinction, and mentions diphtheria linked to a parasitic plant with vaccination hints. It covers ancient granite sculpture with stone tools, chemical demonstrations with hyposulphite and acetate of soda, a photophone concept by Mercadier, and a natural sound phenomenon observed by Reuleux in a Rhine valley pass.
