City Notes and Community Events in Chautauqua County
Muddy roads and crop estimates share space with local politics and social happenings. Prohibitionist votes, an election canvass, a temperance meeting at Good Templars Hall, a Cigar Makers ball, rink plans for private skating, a bank move, a combined service for deaf mutes, and local notices about post office appointments, church services, and witty society snippets populate the page with business, social life, and community updates.

Amusements Review of A Soap Bubble at Academy
The troupe Baker and Farron headlined a laugh filled show at the Academy last night with A Soap Bubble. Baker as a Teutonic detective and later a colored woman drew big laughs. Farron as a dude butcher matched the pace. Gracie Emmet, Dobson, Harry Rich, Kate Shields and others provided strong support with song and dance numbers. The musical direction by J Vollmer and a fine quartet plus singers Gertrude Citti, Josie Gregory, and Jennie Martinet heightened the evening. The show moves to Library Hall on Wednesday evening November 11, with note of Luther’s birth anniversary on November 10 in Dresden.
