Warren County ticket debate over Evans and others in 1870s era

A long political notice attacks S H Evans and others in Warren County urging voters to elect state and county officers. Davis tract oil activity and new wells update

In the Clarendon district, several rigs are active on the Davis tract as new wells come online this week. Bacan Brothers finish a good well on the Davis tract, Steel & Stevenson expect a 25 barrel producer, Kelly & Co finish No 1 on lot 495 with No 2 upcoming, and Sherman & Co report a fair producer on lot 495. Caluwalder & Co drill on lot 979 near town, three hundred feet, progress strong. FL tL Rockwell strikes a gas well near old Clarendon, plans pipe to tannery. News notes include Mrs. Sam McNett sick, Clarendon House dance praised, Jack Pierce reports business good, Miss Hannah Bennett to depart for Bullion oil field, United Pipe Line Co to build a new pump station on the Davis farm, gas line reach to Warren questioned this winter, hotels rising rapidly, J. W. Rawson home from Bullion, and Clarendon expected to beat Richburg in oil. Date listed as Nov 3, 18a.

Sugar Grove near Erie plans academy charter

Application filed to establish a school in Sugar Grove village to be called Erie College or Enge. United Brethren Church leads the effort with 15 000 population area and about 10000 raised, including 8000 in Sugar Grove township. Rev J Ten presiding elder Buffalo District is board president. Rev Luce Meadville District is secretary and Rev R White Corry District treasurer. Endowment planned after building fund completes.

Farmington Defeats Sugar Grove in Squirrel Bunt Match

In a Saturday match on October 20 Farmington township beat Sugar Grove 8 505 to 7 425 in a squirrel bunt. Eli Jones led the winners with 1535 points while Amon Johnson top scored for Sugar Grove with 700. Both teams claimed many gray black and red squirrels and chipmunks.

The letter from Ackley notes lively business at Laycock & Son and Willis Wale expanding, farmers shipping apples, Emerson Inde buying 1000 winter apple trees, and urges voters to back Kinnear for Recorder.
