Emry Davis column touts Home Relief and Hatchs Universal Cough Syrup as cures for catarrh colic cholera morbus and lung ailments. Pills open kidneys liver and skin pores claimed to heal wounds faster and relieve suffering with no cure no pay policy and dealer prices listed.
In Crawford County Pennsylvania a notary records H V Goetchius swearing he was bedridden by rheumatism and cured by Wilson's Lightning Remedy. He asserts the remedy achieved relief and that the proprietor claimed it could cure rheumatism. The document is dated November 4, 1880, certified by Notary J T Hotpex.

A New York correspondent portrays Bismarck as a rising Dakota city set on bluffs above the Missouri. He notes rail access from the Northern Pacific and a landscape view of the circular river valley.
