Reform Club Builds Big Home For Tariff Fight In New York

The Reform Club of New York has bought a 30 by 125 foot site on Fifth Avenue at Twenty seventh Street for about 240000 dollars with total costs near 300000. The new building will house a 400 seat lecture hall, a 100 seat restaurant, and upper rooms for 15 to 20 members, with electric lighting and plans for a 10000 volume library. The club aims to push Tariff reform through state polling, interior county speaking tours, and a robust press program via Tariff Reform committees and the American Press Association. The campaign focuses on farmers and manufacturers, using targeted literature and a growing speaker network. The effort is described as serious and expanding, with ongoing fundraising and membership growth.
