Farewell to Rev Rankin End of Sixteen Years in Warren
The Rev W A Rankin bids farewell after sixteen years of earnest labor in Warren. A large audience heard a moving sermon and flowers and wreaths honored his service. He declined to discuss his resignation publicly, thanking those who arranged the decor. Elders will seek a successor in due time, with talent available in the community.

Troublous Telephones in Warren Spark Protests and Fees
In Warren a local telephone exchange with about one hundred instruments faced a new rate plan effective May 1, 1882 charging ten cents for subscriber conversations and fifteen cents for non-subscriber calls within districts. A protest signed by many local businesses and individuals urged removal of wires and instruments, with a meeting at First National Bank reporting strong opposition and indications that three carriers seek to extend service beyond Warren.
