State Democracy urged united party and tariff reform

Harrisburg March 22 The Executive Committee of the Democratic Society of Pennsylvania met at the Bolton house to plan a statewide reorganization. A finance committee and a delegate board were named and a five dollar enrollment fee adopted. An address to voters urged bottom up organization, tariff reform, and turnout to defeat monopolies. The piece argues for unified Democratic power to win Congress and state offices in the coming campaigns.

Death of A J Hughes shines in Buffalo real estate circle

Arthur Joab Hughes died suddenly at his home on Fargo avenue Buffalo yesterday morning of apoplexy. In his brief Buffalo residence he became a notable figure in real estate advertising. He leaves a widow. The funeral will be held Tuesday with Masonic rites in Friendship. He was 47 or 48, born in Belfast Allegany county and long served as editor and proprietor of Port Allegany Reporter for 19 years. He founded the Eldred Eagle and the Austin Autograph. He was Buffalo Fair local manager two years ago and a member of Liberty Lodge 505 F and A M and Port Allegany Arnold Chapter 254.
