Death at Chautauqua A Double Tragedy in Cottage
A husband, Mr A D Colton, left for Garland and never returned. His wife Mrs Colton was found dead in a cottage on Clark Avenue while Dr W J Elderkin lay dying nearby from a morphine injection after failing a uterine operation. Elderkin left a written statement of the event, suggesting Mrs Colton died of shock and he killed himself. The scene shocked the Chautauqua community and prompted wide speculation as authorities investigated.

The Commonwealth vs Geer ended in not guilty but costs for assault. fornication costs to be split. and Paddock charged with assault with intent to rape ended not guilty but half the costs. Galbraith Hall died suddenly at 1 Poplar Street after a period of ill health. he was born in Warren and leaves a large family and many relatives. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.
