Sunday Blaze Destroys Gas Works Equipment
A major fire last Sunday afternoon damaged the Gas and Electric Light Works, gutting the gas machine cup and spreading to nearby buildings. Two boiler, two engines, three dynamos, a switchboard, an ore pump and other small machinery were destroyed, with losses estimated around $20,000. The blaze overwhelmed limited water pressure, yet responders confined the flames to the plant area. A testimonial notes relief from neuralgia through Hood's Sarsaparilla and decries after-dinner pills in another ad segment.
