Edinboro Commencement and Warren County Fair Progress

Death Notice for Levi Phillips of Farmington

Levi Phillips of Farmington died on the 27th ult at about age 60s in Jamestown after a sun stroke. One of the county’s oldest settlers, he came with his father from Bennington Vermont in 1893 to Pine Grove township near Russellsberg. Married Paova Marsh in 1894, they had eleven children, nine living. He guided a Christian, hard working life, left a comfortable estate to his children. Funeral attendance exceeded two hundred vehicles, reflecting his esteem. He died after a period of farm work with mind clear to the end.

Warren Gounly Agricultural Fair Meeting Notes

Executive Committee members Lott Orr Cagewell Wiltsie met in Jackson Hall July 2 to set Warren Gounly Agricultural Fair dates September 9 10 11 and 12 and ticket pricing. Commodore Garrison's Wide Wealthy Career Ends in Assignment

News from New York June 20 1884 reports Commodore Corselius Garrison one of America's richest men has made an assignment to John T. Terry of B D Morgan & Co. His liabilities and assets are not yet stated but are expected to exceed existing holdings. Garrison rose from poverty to vast wealth through shipping gas and rail ventures and civic service in San Francisco and New York.
