Man Preserves Wife Believed Dead After Mania Attack

In Cincage on June 18 five weeks after the birth of a child to Charles P. Pruto, his wife suffered a mania episode. Doctors used morphine to calm her nerves, she appeared dead, but the husband, hearing a heartbeat and then applying chest presses, revived her. She has since improved and can move about. Doctors say she might not have died without his actions.

Ex banker Ezra Cooper of Union City faced previous conviction for a felonious assault on Mrs Julia Duon. New warrants allege perjury by witnesses Daniel Brown and Henry Howe who claiming to observe the incident while working away at a mill. Warrants also issued for subornation of perjury against Robert Emerson Jr and his son Robert for hiring witnesses to defend Cooper.

Destitute Miners in Stoneboro Coal Field

In Franklin Pennsylvania on January 13 a large number of Stoneboro coal field miners face severe destitution. Mercer Iron and Coal Co has lost markets due to natural gas, leaving miners averaging two work days per month. Reed Nesmith Marriage at the Bride’s Home

The marriage of Mr. F. E. Reed to Miss A. L. Nesmith occurred at the bride’s parents’ home at cor High and Liberty streets last week. Farming on January 13 1886 Stark Letter on Prices and Factory Losses

In reply to Stub Pen the author recalls 1879 when Wooren shipped cheese to England for ten to twelve cents per pound and losses were shared by factory patrons. Apples sold in Philadelphia on commission lost money. farmers contributed nine dollars. He notes butter prices ranged 14 to 25 cents under Cleveland, cheese and farm goods remained low, and claims no Cheese Factory patrons paid manufacturing costs last year. Farming on, Jan 13, 1886.
