Burgess Criticised Over Police Removals in Warren

Cogswell, a longtime Republican, alleges no prior dissatisfaction and received notice by letter from Burgess James Wiggins directing transfer of his badge and duties to Gander. The dispute hinges on whether the council or burgess holds authority under a June 1893 act governing police appointments and removals, with council members arguing only they may appoint or remove officers. Coleman is said to be in bad shape but expected to recover, and he refuses interview requests. Nutt has been moved to Atchison.
