Pious judgments tear at social peace and true strength

The piece argues that piety as a social pose is heartless and judgmental while real religion yields sympathy. It condemns self righteous worry over others motives, notes pious comfort comes with ease and scandal, and praises inner strength shown as self restraint, courage, and quiet endurance. Robertson frames piety as minority boast and calls true power the control of one's passions.
