Sailor’s love and life ashore in a long ago tale
An aging sailor narrates a romantic patchwork of youth aboard a ship, a forbidden match with Jenny Blush, her father’s opposition, and the lure of the sea. After hardship and a duel with fate at Gibraltar, he survives, abandons the grave danger for family duty, and settles in New York to raise legacy for Tom Hamlin’s orphaned daughters.

A Sailor's Tale of Love and a Chaplain's Nigh Task
A hard living sea captain recounts aiding a chaplain in arranging schooling for two girls, leading to a reunion with Jenny and a chapel wedding after years apart. The piece blends memoir with a vignette of shipboard duty and a hidden romance resolved by faith and duty.
