Five Peas and a Winter Tale by Hans Christian Andersen

Five peas in a green pea-shell grow up thinking the world is green. The shell breaks and they scatter, each fateful journey ending in luck or peril. One pea inspires a poor widow and her sick daughter as a pea-vine blossoms and brings hope and revival. The tale closes with the girl’s gratitude and a moral of faith and patience as the peas meet their diverse ends.
