The Two Cyclopedias Compared In 1877 Review
A Richmond Religious Herald article reviews Appleton's and Johnson's Cyclopedias. It notes Appleton's broader data on science and American topics, while Johnson's favors American biographical entries and places, but biases exist from editor choices. The piece defends Protestant fairness, discusses Roman Catholic content, and anticipates an expanded index volume for Appleton's.
