The Jamestown Call favors maintaining law even if wrong while The Ledger supports revising laws that unfairly affect people. Woolen cloth costs abroad 19 percent to produce while in the United States it costs 28 percent. American manufacturers pay 9 percent more. Is 18 percent or double the production cost difference enough tax for protection. Current tax is 68 percent, 59 percent more than the actual difference. Such irregularities benefit manufacturers on both sides. If correcting them is free trade then we are free traders.
