Lightning strikes hit Warren homes and barn. fire rages
A loud thunderstorm in Warren last Sunday damaged Charles H. Smith on High Street where a lightning bolt entered via a telephone line, shocking Mrs. Smith and two children. A second bolt sparked a fire at J. C. Seichrist’s large hay-filled barn outside borough limits, destroying about 140 tons of hay, machinery, and utensils totaling around $4,000 with $2,000 insured. H. S. Thomas’s barn near the old cemetery also took a hit but sustained minimal damage. Three men suffered severe shocks in the Thomas barn. Also listed are local notices for building lots for sale in Warren and advertisements for ice delivery and store stock, plus a sentimental note from Tom about life insurance.
