Local History Honors Warren Religious Gift to Community
A fitting monument to local generosity details the growth of Warren churches. Starting with a 1817 Methodist class, the Warren church formed in 1880, meeting in a schoolhouse until 1833, with the present edifice laid fifty-two years later. Rev. Jr. A. Kummer is pastor, and church groups include Woman’s Missionary Societies and Junior Leagues. Episcopal services began sparsely before Trinity Memorial Church was completed in 1867, with Rev. C. Parker and later Rev. A. Ri. Taylor serving as rector. The First Baptist Church organized in 1834, with ministers Fuller, Coleman, and Gildersleve, began with sixteen members.
