Baron Fava, Italy's minister to the United States, is recalled as Italy presses for a federal U S guarantee of legal action against lynching culprits and for indemnity payments to victims’ families. The note warns Italy will withdraw if no favorable reply within a week.
Lawrence Gardenier, once Burr’s law partner and a famed New York barrister, died at age ninety one at the Home for Aged Men. Born in 1800 in Kensington, he studied at Columbia and joined Burr in 1825. He married Burr’s daughter Theodoria, who vanished in 1827. A son and daughter survive him.

The Pennsylvania Railroad offers its third April tour to the Golden Gate departing from New York last week, with one remaining date on April 14. Miss Edith Sill daughter of Mr and Mrs N Sill of Pleasant died Friday March 27 after months of illness from dropsy of the brain. An artist and longtime assistant to W A Greaves, she had been with Photo Steel Engraving of Geneva NY for two years. Funeral Sunday at 2 pm at the Pleasant home, Rev W A Rankin officiated, burial in Oakland family lot.
Mrs. Mary Howard widow of Henry B Howard dies at her son Henry Howard Jr in North Clarendon aged 85 after a gradual decline. born in 1806 in Queens County Ireland came to the U S in 1837 mother of seven with two surviving sons William of North Warren and Henry of North Clarendon. Funeral at M E church Monday March 23 with Rev Ginader officiating. Interment Oakland at Warren.
Little Grace Price, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs G W Price of Panama, died Thursday March 12. She was a lovable child with musical talent beyond her years. Her parents and family have the sympathy of all who knew them in their sorrow.
The father of Lizzie Babcock found his daughter in Pittsburg last Sunday after she left Oil City. An alleged book agent was not found. The girl, who worked at the Seventh Avenue Hotel, had been seen with a handsome hotel employee at the St James Hotel. Indications point to a voluntary running away rather than an elopement. In eastern and central Pennsylvania the Christian Evangelical Association faces a bitter feud as Bowman and anti Bowman factions contend for control of about 100 churches.
