French and American troops push forward along a broad front west of the Meuse despite German retreat. Allied forces gain miles with strong progress, capturing prisoners and overrunning positions from Suippes to the Verdun area as German resistance weakens.
Washington and Berlin reports track a tense push for the Susan B Anthony amendment. Senators delay final vote to allow La Follette to reach Washington and cast his affirmative ballot as suffrage allies struggle to assemble two thirds approval amid filibuster tactics.
Paris reports Czar Ferdinand of Bulgaria has appealed to General von Mackensen to aid retreating Bulgarian forces in Macedonia and mobilize for an offensive against the Allies. Bulgaria is said to have 15 divisions at a key point, while the Central Powers reportedly refused to reinforce with German and Austrian divisions from Russia Romania and the Italian front.
On September 26 the American drive on the Metz front was renewed with both American and French troops in action. The Franco American pressure focused east of the Moselle with gains in the Chambey Bouxieres area amid German resistance. Air activity increased as Wednesdays weather improved.

British troops on the Balkan front have invaded Bulgarian territory near Kosturino opposite Lake Doiran as Serbians push toward Ishtik and the Orient railway. Gradsko station on the Salonika Belgrade line fell to Serbs who press along the Vardar left bank. The Serbs advance fifteen miles toward Ishtik with hundreds of prisoners and dozens of heavy guns captured as they push toward the Bulgarian frontier.
Thousands of workers in New York plan to begin the $1.8 billion Fourth Liberty Loan drive after President Wilson launches the campaign from the Metropolitan Opera House. Police whistles and air raid sirens will lead a citywide noise push, as 15,000 volunteers distribute 1,500,000 placards and the selling campaign begins Saturday morning.
Serbian official statement from Paris reports rapid Allied progress in Macedonia as Bulgarian forced retreat continues. The Bulgarian army of about 210,000 faces decisive defeat if Ushbie is reached and lines of communication cut. West of Prilep Bulgarians are isolated from the Vardar valley while Allied activity presses through mountainous terrain.
