Washington May 7 The grain seizure in Ukraine will not raise German rations. The EU dispatch notes current meat allowances at 200 grammes weekly may drop to 150 or less. It warns Ukraine grain privately stored by peasants leads to ongoing bread shortages in cities and worsening food conditions.
The House public lands committee failed to solve the dispute over claims on naval oil reserves and left the decision to the President. Friction among the navy department justice department and interior department has stalled the oil leasing bill for over three months.
Washington May 7 Automobile manufacturers and the war industries board agreed this afternoon to submit the proposal for a 75 percent reduction in pleasure automobile output to a committee. The committee will include four board members and four auto industry representatives for final action.

Washington May 7 four thousand and sixty selective service men were called today to the colors by Provost Marshal General Crowder. The movement will take place on May 20 with all states except Arizona Delaware and Vermont included. They will be sent to training camps and assigned among service branches including signal corps 401 engineer corps 2983 quartermasters 671 and ordnance 5.
Union machinists on strike at Bethlehem Steel plant in Allentown Pa. applied to Secretary Wilson for action by the National War Labor Board. Four hundred more men joined today, bringing the total out to five thousand.
London reported ten sailors were killed when a mine drifted ashore and exploded near Vestervik. The casualty figure comes from an Exchange Telegraph dispatch received from Coplenhagen.
