Experts warn that until Anglo French forces can launch a counter offensive the German drive on the Western Front will remain unchecked. The situation remains precarious with the balance of power hinging on future Allied actions and counter measures.
Dispatches from Washington report that army officers deem the western front critical while hopeful for a counter offensive. German generals aim for Paris or channel ports, with Haig reinforced for a push near Bapaume. Officials note enormous German losses and foresee a turning point when the allied counter offensive becomes evident.

Secretary McAdoo endorses her plan to direct a thousand workers to sell one million dollars of Liberty bonds in the next issue. He lauds American women for supporting the third Liberty loan.
From the American sector north of Toul the night passed with gunfire and patrols well below usual levels as both sides pause amid world attention on the British offensive. Aircraft sound persisted as squadrons apparently prepared bombing forays. An American officer said the main action now lies in waiting for official communiques.

Marfa Texas March 2 United States troops pursue Mexican bandits after a Neville ranch raid that killed two men a woman and two children. The 8th Cavalry says 19 raiders were killed in a running battle across the border. No U S casualties reported.
